UADF Launches Digital Needs Assessment Across 9 Remote Communities

The Universal Access Development Fund (UADF) has embarked on a crucial Digital Needs Assessment excursion across nine underserved and unserved communities in some of Sierra Leone’s most remote and marginalized districts. This initiative is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring that every citizen, regardless of geographic location, region, or any other sentiments, has access to essential digital infrastructure and services.

Led by the Deputy CEO, the primary objective of this assessment is to evaluate the existing digital infrastructure and technological capabilities of these communities. By conducting in-depth interviews, group discussions, and using customized questionnaire, our team will collect valuable demographics, population, and infrastructure data. This information is vital in identifying the communities most in need of support and resources.

Upon completion of this exercise, UADF will be equipped with clear, actionable data to inform strategic decision-making. This data will be instrumental in the selection of sites for the deployment of the Rural Telephony Program and the establishment of Community Digital Services Centers. These initiatives aim to provide critical connectivity and digital services, thereby empowering communities and fostering economic growth.

Moreover, this assessment will enable UADF to identify potential sites that are ideal for the implementation of these programs, ensuring that resources are allocated where they are needed most. By focusing on areas with the greatest need, UADF can maximize the impact of its interventions, contributing to the national goal of achieving universal digital access.

The UADF remains committed to its mission of expanding digital access across Sierra Leone. This Digital Needs Assessment is a pivotal part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that even the most remote and marginalized communities are not left behind in the digital age. As we progress, we look forward to working closely with local stakeholders and community members to bring the benefits of digital connectivity to every corner of our nation.
