A transformative project designed to enhance digital connectivity
The RTP is a transformative project designed to enhance digital connectivity in five rural communities: Yoyema, Sogablleh in Bum Chiefdom, Bendu-Cha in Bonthe District, Foegamandu in Kono District, and Dodo-Kortuma in Kailahun District. The project has successfully connected approximately 47,700 people across 114 rural localities, benefiting over 30 schools and about 10 community healthcare centers.
Key components of the RTP include the establishment of data centers with satellite dishes, VSATs, switches, routers, servers, microwave, and fiber connections, the construction of communication towers, and the provision of mobile PECK units, digital devices, and startup capital. These efforts are part of the broader Big Five Agenda, which emphasizes technology and infrastructure as drivers of sustainable economic growth.
Madam Salima Bah, the Minister of Communications, Technology, and Innovation, has been a key advocate for increasing mobile penetration and enhancing communication accessibility for rural areas. Her dedication and vision have been instrumental in making the RTP a reality, providing a platform for economic growth, educational enhancement, and improved healthcare delivery in rural communities.
As we celebrate this milestone, the partnership between UADF and the Ministry of Communications, Technology, and Innovation stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and shared goals. The smiles and camaraderie between CEO Marie Momoh and Minister Salima Bah symbolize the success of the RTP launch and the bright future of digital connectivity in Sierra Leone.
The RTP is more than just a technological advancement; it is a lifeline for rural communities, empowering citizens to participate fully in the digital age.
