UADF engages Remote Communities for Rural Telephony Project Implementation

The Universal Access Development Fund (UADF) continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide in Sierra Leone by extending vital communication services to the nation’s most remote and underserved communities. In alignment with the government’s vision for inclusive development and digital transformation, UADF has embarked on an ambitious journey to bring telecommunication services to the doorsteps of communities in Tomabom, Falaba, and Daru.

The UADF team recently visited Falaba township, a rugged and hard-to-reach area, to engage with local stakeholders, including community leaders and landowners. This engagement aimed to finalize the necessary arrangements for the construction and implementation of Rural Telephony Project (RTP) sites, which will provide these communities with essential access to the internet and other communication services.

During the meeting in Falaba, UADF successfully concluded land acquisition agreements, ensuring that the project can commence without delay. The community leaders expressed their gratitude for UADF’s efforts to connect them to the rest of the world, a step they view as transformative for their community’s development and integration into the national and global economy.

The UADF’s initiative aligns perfectly with the government’s strategic goals of fostering sustainable development through digital inclusion. By bringing modern telecommunication services to remote areas, UADF is not only enhancing the quality of life for residents but also creating new opportunities for education, healthcare, and economic activities.

The successful conclusion of this phase marks a significant milestone in UADF’s mission to ensure universal access to communication services across Sierra Leone. As the project progresses, these communities will soon experience the transformative power of connectivity, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future.
